You mentioned a few days ago, out of the blue: “when I get older it will be hard to find someone to marry who speaks Portuguese”. I asked why does he need to speak Portuguese, and you said “because I speak Portuguese and English, so he needs to speak it too”!

Second day sick
You missed school yesterday and today, for the first time since classes began in August. You have a fever but pretty much no other symptons, so we don’t know what’s causing it. Doctor tested you for strep but it was negative. You were fever free most of the time today, but it started again in the evening…

First Sleepover – almost
You went to your friend Isadora’s house for your first sleepover. Since both Daddy and Eric are sick, tia Erica and I thought it could be a good way to get you out of the house. You carefully agreed to it, asked a bunch of questions, about when you were coming back home and where you were going to sleep. Then you started liking the idea and we went to pack your Little Mermaid pijamas, some books (including Charlie and Lola’s I slightly wanna go home), a stuffed animal (reindeer your cousin João got you) and off we went. You arrived pretty happy, played with Izzy and then we said goodbye (Eric and I were going to the grocery store and then home). Everything went fine until I got a call about midnight, tia Erica said you were asking to sleep in your own bed. I talked to you on the phone and you said you were scared and wanted to sleep in your room/bed. So that was the end of your first sleepover, you got home about 12:35 am.

Lice
You had lice for the first (and hopefully last) time. We saw it in your hair after you had been complaining of itching. Daddy went to the pharmacy and got lice shampoo right away, and a thin comb. I cut your hair quite a bit, it was very long, waist-length, and I got it cut to shoulder-length. You cried at first thinking I was going to cut it short like a boy, then you calmed down when you saw that it was still “girl’s hair”.

These are old mistakes
You don’t say these any more, but we had to register: espássaro instead of espaço, boboteca instead of biblioteca.

First Art Show
Your after school had an Art Show, and you had 3 pictures in the exhibit. An apple, a pumpkin and a cat (looks a lot like Gato). They are all really good, the apple is great and my favorite. They are a mix of watercolor and pastel. Another artist in the making to continue the family tradition? You have been saying often you want to be a Book Illustrator!

4th name
You were arguing with us that you have a 4th and last name: Melon/watermelon. You said your friend Samantha from Bluebonnet told you that it was your name. You kept arguing that you want to change it for real, no pretending.

Mermaid
You got promoted to station 5 in swimming class last week. You were super proud! Now you can swim well with arms stretched in front of your head and the teacher started teaching you how to move your arms. So much progress so fast!

Swim evolution
You just got promoted from level 2 to 4 at swim class today! You were very happy, and we are so proud. You are making a lot of progress really fast, you just got promoted to level 2 a week ago, so that’s 3 levels in 1 month. Go Julia, our little mermaid!
