  • Big sister

You met your baby brother today at the hospital. You were scared to be there since you hate hospitals. You saw him but didn’t know what to do. You gave him a kiss but wasn’t really paying him much attention. We’ll see how you will interact with him when we go home.

  • Your Vegetables

Besides all the greens already mentioned, you eat: raw carrots, tomatoes (sometimes), corn, black beans. Tried and liked yellow squash, bell pepper (red). You eat butternut squash soup, cauliflower soup. You don’t care for potatoes in any form, sometimes you eat French fries.

  • Independent

You go to the bathroom by yourself 100% (for pee). You put most of your shoes on without help (except strappy sandals). You can brush your teeth alone. You want to help us cook, set the table, put groceries away, do the laundry and load the dishwasher. You eat by yourself (has been doing that for years).

  • Fruits

You like: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mangoes, bananas, pineapple, avocado, kiwi, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, watermelon, and sometimes, apples. Not applesauce though. You don’t like pears, melon, and peaches, although you claim to eat pears and peaches at school.

  • Menina verde

You love: raw spinach, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, raw celery, edamame, avocado, kiwi, grapes, pesto is your favorite pasta sauce. You like lentil soup and split pea soup.

  • Completely potty trained

You decided not to wear pull ups anymore, put your underwear on and had no accidents even going to the pool. You asked to get out of the pool and pee 3 times, you were totally in control. We consider you now officially potty trained.

  • Dearest friend

We were in the car coming home after school. You were talking about playing with your friend Alice. I asked:
    – Is Alice your dearest friend?
    – No.
    – No? Who is your dearest friend then?
    – Mamae.
    Awwwww.

  • Happy New York

That’s what you told Papa on the phone from the hotel room in Chicago when Nonna told you to say Happy New Year. 🙂

  • First letters

You recognize a few letters now: J as in Julia, D as in Daddy, O, S and M. And you try to write, you fill pages and pages with scribbling.

  • Ice cream refused

I picked you up at school and didn’t bring your snack. You were sad and I offered to buy an ice cream, but then you wouldn’t get your usual snack when we got home. You agreed.

I stopped, got you some ice cream and before you started eating, you asked if you could still have your snack at home. When I said no, you cried a bit and gave me your ice cream so I could eat it! Unbelievable! I ate the entire thing and you didn’t say a word. When we got home you immediately asked for your snack, and went upstairs to eat it in front of the TV.
