You still don’t sleep through the night very much, probably 90% of the time you still wake up some time at night. You either come to our bed unnoticed or cry and we have to try to put you back to bed / let you climb in bed with us. Last night you didn’t want to lay down in your bed at all, and I gave you a sticker for laying on your bed and told you if you slept all night in your own bed and only got up when the sun came up to wake us up, you would get another sticker. I’m not sure if you were so tired that you slept through the night without waking up at all or if you really decided to stay in bed to get the sticker in the morning, but it worked. We’ll do it again tonight and see what happens next morning. Hopefully you decided to stick to the plan and get your stickers every morning.

School and Friends
This is your third week at school. Last week was unusual because of a long holiday, so you only had to go for 3 days. You are doing very well, the teachers say you are improving every day and participating more. They also mentioned they have no communication problems with you, so as we suspected, your English is much better than we think. You still say you don’t want to go to school though, every morning (it started on the Friday of the first week) but once you are there, you are fine. You cry a bit when we arrive, and then a minute later you already stopped and started playing with Miss Rachel or your friends. You like Miss Nicole, who is the assistant teacher a lot too. When I pick you up every day you cry when you see me, and say “Mommy, mommy” and ask me to hold you and take you home, says goodbye to everybody and “see you tomorrow”. Daddy went to pick you up yesterday and you didn’t cry when you saw him, I wonder why!
Today when I was dropping you off your friend JoJo came and gave you a hug right away, while Kenya and Shiaman (not sure how to spell her name, your little Korean friend who started about the same time as you) were running to the playground gate to open it for you, calling your name. Miss Rachel said they were waiting for you. I guess they are your first “close friends”.

First day of school
You had your first day of school today. You were so excited, literally skipping all the way to the classroom. Your class was outside playing, we got there and you immediately ran to climb the playset. When we said goodbye you came to us crying though, but the teacher picked you up and turned around to tell you the other kid’s names, we left and before we walked out you had already stopped crying.
At home we watched you play along during the music class, sit to drink some milk at lunch time (you refused the food) and then we went to pick you up. When we got there you were walking around holding Marie and cried when you saw us at the door. I called you but you just stood there crying so I walked in to pick you up. We said goodbye to your teachers (you waved) and left.
You said you liked school and when I asked if you wanted to go back tomorrow, you said yes. I guess it was a typical first day!

Pee in the potty
You finally were able to sit at the potty and pee at the right time. You didn’t want to sit down, kept walking around like you really needed to pee and we talked you into it. You were super happy that you peed in the potty like the girl in the book we got. Now you just need to keep doing it!

First pee in the potty
After a long day of wearing underwear and peeing on yourself 3 times, screaming at the potty, you finally sat there for a while and peed a tiny bit. You were super happy and proud, we made a big deal clapping and giving you m&ms as a reward.

Poop blowout
You were playing with Papa and he didn’t notice you had a poopy diaper. He picked you up to show you a bird outside the window and poop came out of the diaper. He took you upstairs to get you to the bathroom to clean you up and I went to help. I had to put you in the shower because there was a lot of poop coming out. Then Papa noticed there was a ton of poop on his shirt and the night gown you were wearing. It was a gross mess! You really need to learn how to use the toilet.

Great traveler
We went to Michigan to visit your grandparents and it was the first time you had your own carry on bag (you picked it up a couple of days before and walked around the house pulling it until the day of the trip, watched tv holding it in your lap, took naps with it next to your bed). You walked through the airport pulling it the whole time, didn’t want to go in the stroller at all.
On the flight back, you noticed the seat belt light was on by yourself and told Mommy that you couldn’t go on Mommy’s lap because the light was on and we all had to stay in our seats. You stayed in your seat the entire time because the light stayed on!

English workshop
We are in Michigan at Nonna’s house this week and it has been an English workshop for you. All of a sudden you went from single words to sentences – what’s that? What color is that? What are you doing? are the most used ones. I couldn’t possibly keep track of the language explosion this week, you are learning at such a speed, it’s pretty amazing. I guess you will know quite a bit of English when you start preschool in the Fall.

More English
You just said to Tati: I’m mad, really mad. Then you crossed your arms, waited a few seconds and said: Now I’m happy.
Where are you learning these things????
