  • Many words in English

You have been picking up a lot of words in English these days, we don’t even know where, we just keep being blown away when you use them all of a sudden in the right context. Examples: fast, thank you, you’re welcome, hug, happy, sad, see you later, my cup, my shoe, love you, get you, cat, dog, boat, bird, monkey, water, park, numbers 1-10, several colors, the ABC song… I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch. It will be interesting when you start preschool in the Fall!

  • Ice tea

I was drinking unsweetened ice tea and you kept asking to drink it. I thought if I let you have some you would hate it, so I said go ahead. What a shock! You liked it and wouldn’t stop drinking! I had to say it’ Mommy’s drink and I want to have more to get you to stop.

  • Getting the joke

Yesterday you asked me to take you upstairs to brush your teeth/get you in bed. Daddy usually does that, so I was saying “Daddy will do it” and you kept saying “No, I want Mamãe to do it”. Then I started saying “Vovó will do it” or “Vovô will do it” and jokingly said “Gato will do it”. You laughed really hard and kept repeating “Hah, Gato will do it” and laughing, and proceeded to say “Gato will do it, oh my gosh!”. It was hilarious because we could see you really “got it”. You laughed all the way to the bathroom and I added that Gato would brush your teeth, which continued to amuse you.

  • Fondue

We went to Melting Pot last Monday, you didn’t want to try the cheese or meat fondues, but wanted to eat as much as you could of the chocolate fondue with strawberries. You were eating and saying YUM so good at every bite.

  • Feta & fish

Yesterday you tried a breaded fish I made and loved it, you ate all pieces we put on your plate and today you asked for more. You also tried feta cheese again and liked it this time, you were alternating a piece of feta with your strawberries for dessert.

  • No Nutella Just like Daddy

I just gave you some Nutella for the first time, you ate a little bit and refused the rest saying you didn’t like it. Just like your dad.

  • Soups

You tried and liked lentil soup today (that I made). So far you like misso soup (every time I get japanese you eat it), broccoli cheddar soup from Panera and sometimes the butternut squash soup I make.

  • Long sentences

You were playing with some kitchen utensils while I put away groceries. I asked if you were going to put the utensils in the cabinets and you said “no, I will put them in the bag” (nao, eu vou botar na bolsa). You have been using “I” (eu) more often.

  • Painting

Trying to get you to say what you were drawing:
    What are you doing?
    Painting.
    What are you painting?
    Paper.
