Julia still doesn’t like baths…
She did pee while mommy was holding her.
We’re still impressed at how noisy you are. Of course we expected you to cry, but you don’t cry a lot. You make a lot of little noises and squeaks all the time, even when you’re asleep. It’s cute, and we make the same noises back at you sometimes. But it’s hard to sleep when you’re around!
After we gave you a bath today your daddy finally trimmed your fingernails. We were both afraid of clipping more than just nails and waited until you fell asleep to give it a try. Now you don’t need to wear mittens anymore, it was about time!
This time we tried without the angle thingy and let Julia sit in the water. It seemed to be working until shortly after we started she peed in the water, forcing us to hold her out above the pee water, and thus probably making her cold and scream bloody murder!
We were just giving you the last feeding of the day, your nona was changing your diaper and surprise – your bellybutton stump fell! We saved it to show it to your daddy tomorrow, since he was already asleep. Your bellybutton still have some changing to do before taking its final shape, but at least we can clean you and give you a bath a little easier now.
Today we took Julia for her 7 day visit to get another PKU done.
She’s also got weighted: 7 lbs 2 oz
Today we took Julia to the Pediatrician (normally Dr. Howsen, who was on vacation so we saw Dr. Wu) for a 5 day post partum jaundice check. She was normal.
She was weighted and already gaining weight, even above her birth weight: 6 lbs 13 oz.
Today, Julia came out of mommy!
It was a quick c-section performed by Dr. Lawrence. I was super nervious, wearing my mask/hat/bio suit made me very hot, but I stayed to be with Luciana and then hold Julia.
She came out with a big cry.
The nurses cleaned her up and gave her to me. She had her hand sticking out, which was very purple compared to the rest of her skin.
She’s beautiful!
