  • Keep walking

We went to the mall today and daddy carried you around in the Baby Bjorn. He put you there facing out so you could see everything and everybody and you loved it. But for whatever reason you didn’t want him to stop walking, so he spent the whole time we were there walking non stop! We stayed for 2 hours so it was quite amazing that you spent all that time in the carrier. The only time you complained was when daddy stopped walking, so he got a lot of exercising. Since he has been counting / tracking steps for his exercising program, it was not bad at all!

  • I tawt I taw a puddy tat!

You have been around our cat Gato since you came home from the hospital, but you hadn’t really noticed him until today. You have seen him many times but you never acted in any different way than when you saw something else around the house. Today you opened your eyes wide when you saw him and stared while he was moving around. I can’t wait until you are old enough to call him and pet him! Not sure he will like that 😉

  • You have been pacified!

Every time we try to give you a pacifier you usually spit it across the room and cry really hard, outraged at that horrible plastic thing in your mouth. However, we keep trying to make you accept the pacifier, since you aren’t satisfied by sucking on your hands and fingers. Today not only you took the pacifier but you also slept many hours with it. And to my complete surprise, when I put you on your crib after the last feeding of the day, you woke up but didn’t cry, you just laid there sucking on your pacifier until you fell asleep by yourself.

  • 2 month visit

Your 2 month visit was great, you were in a very good mood, smiling to the doctor, cooing and moving non stop. You weighed 12lbs7oz and were 23 3/4 inches long. Dr Howsen said you have good neck control and that we can put you facing outward in the Baby Bjorn, we know you’ll like that. She also told us you have to sleep more during the day, no surprise there, the problem will be trying to make that happen. Then you had your 4 shots, 2 in each leg, and you cried really loud – it was the loudest we heard you so far, poor thing. At least it was very quick and mommy nursed you right after. By the time we left you were already smiling to daddy in the car seat.

  • what a day

Today you stayed awake: 8hrs and counting.

Mommy was feeding you and sang some songs and you started to join her!

We were worried because you were crying very loud, no matter what we did, until we found the calming tummy position. So we figured it was gas and gave you some mylicon.

  • The explosive diaper

For the second time in your lifetime you were able to make such a big poop that your diaper leaked, not only making your pants dirty but your back and the clothes of whomever was holding you – both times your grandma Lucia was the victim. Both explosive diaper incidents happened during the night, after 4 AM, and all I saw were the soiled clothes about to be washed the next morning. I still don’t understand how the clothes were that dirty, it seemed like you weren’t wearing any diaper at all. I will spare everybody the details, and no, I didn’t take a picture of it.

  • At the Thai restaurant

Our friends Heliene and Emerson and their baby Nicholas asked if we would like to go to Typhoon, a thai restaurant in Redmond, so they could meet you. We were a little nervous about taking you to a restaurant but we said yes. You couldn’t have behaved better! You were awake most of the time, being passed from mommy’s lap to grandma’s to daddy’s. You drank a bottle and slept a little bit, sat in your carseat by daddy’s side and comfortably looked at everything around and smiled. We were out for 3 hours and you slept on our way home. If we knew you would always behave like this, we would go out a lot more 😉

  • Chit chat

We didn’t write down when it happened, but you have been able to say “ah-goo” and other similar sounds for a while (we know it was even before your 1 month birthday), but you have been chatting a lot for the past days. Your favorite place to start a conversation is the changing pad. We put you there to change your diaper and you immediately start making sounds, smiling and responding with more sounds when we talk to you. You get quite excited and move your arms and legs a lot, it’s so cute! Sometimes you stop eating to chat with mommy, even in the middle of the night. Maybe you will start talking early? The bets already started if your first word will be in English or Portuguese.

  • Tummy time

Today you got a little bit of tummy time for real: we put a blanket on the floor so you could stay flat on your tummy and use your arms to bring your upper body up. You did great, we used your Minnie ball toy to get your attention and make you look at a different direction following the sounds that it makes. You got tired very quickly and a little upset until we turned you so you could lay on your back. Before today you only got tummy time laying on your daddy’s chest, which is not as hard. Gato was very interested on your blanket, but he sat by the sidelines and didn’t step on it. We wonder when you will start noticing Gato…

  • Eye to eye

A couple of days ago you started focusing on people’s faces – now we can tell that you are looking at us rather than at the wall, the doors, windows or anything else around. You have been spending quite some time studying my face while you eat or your dad’s face when he changes your diaper, it’s amazing how you concentrate and all of a sudden gives us a big smile.
