  • Why?

You just started the why phase – everything we say, you ask why.

  • Poop blowout

You were playing with Papa and he didn’t notice you had a poopy diaper. He picked you up to show you a bird outside the window and poop came out of the diaper. He took you upstairs to get you to the bathroom to clean you up and I went to help. I had to put you in the shower because there was a lot of poop coming out. Then Papa noticed there was a ton of poop on his shirt and the night gown you were wearing. It was a gross mess! You really need to learn how to use the toilet.

  • Great traveler

We went to Michigan to visit your grandparents and it was the first time you had your own carry on bag (you picked it up a couple of days before and walked around the house pulling it until the day of the trip, watched tv holding it in your lap, took naps with it next to your bed). You walked through the airport pulling it the whole time, didn’t want to go in the stroller at all.

On the flight back, you noticed the seat belt light was on by yourself and told Mommy that you couldn’t go on Mommy’s lap because the light was on and we all had to stay in our seats. You stayed in your seat the entire time because the light stayed on!

  • Felix Ballet Dancing

While visiting Nona and Poppa, they were dog sitting Felix. You and I took him for a walk and of course he lifted his leg to pee on every tree. You said that he was ballet dancing (like Olivia). I almost feel over laughing. I did explain he was peeing eventually.

  • English workshop

We are in Michigan at Nonna’s house this week and it has been an English workshop for you. All of a sudden you went from single words to sentences – what’s that? What color is that? What are you doing? are the most used ones. I couldn’t possibly keep track of the language explosion this week, you are learning at such a speed, it’s pretty amazing. I guess you will know quite a bit of English when you start preschool in the Fall.

  • More English

You just said to Tati: I’m mad, really mad. Then you crossed your arms, waited a few seconds and said: Now I’m happy.

Where are you learning these things????

  • Many words in English

You have been picking up a lot of words in English these days, we don’t even know where, we just keep being blown away when you use them all of a sudden in the right context. Examples: fast, thank you, you’re welcome, hug, happy, sad, see you later, my cup, my shoe, love you, get you, cat, dog, boat, bird, monkey, water, park, numbers 1-10, several colors, the ABC song… I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch. It will be interesting when you start preschool in the Fall!

  • Ice tea

I was drinking unsweetened ice tea and you kept asking to drink it. I thought if I let you have some you would hate it, so I said go ahead. What a shock! You liked it and wouldn’t stop drinking! I had to say it’ Mommy’s drink and I want to have more to get you to stop.

  • Big bath

finally, after 2 years, 7 months and 18 days you decided to use the big bath tub. you did not want to go in at first, but you had fun fishing and playing with your toys. the second day (yesterday) you still didn’t want to go in at first but got over it pretty quick. the third day (today) you had no problems going in and even put the shower spray water on your tummy.

while it’s a good move in general I think my back preferred the baby tub.

  • Getting the joke

Yesterday you asked me to take you upstairs to brush your teeth/get you in bed. Daddy usually does that, so I was saying “Daddy will do it” and you kept saying “No, I want Mamãe to do it”. Then I started saying “Vovó will do it” or “Vovô will do it” and jokingly said “Gato will do it”. You laughed really hard and kept repeating “Hah, Gato will do it” and laughing, and proceeded to say “Gato will do it, oh my gosh!”. It was hilarious because we could see you really “got it”. You laughed all the way to the bathroom and I added that Gato would brush your teeth, which continued to amuse you.
