  • First tooth!

Last night you were waking up more than usual, and seemed very upset. This morning your nanny Ana found out why: one of your bottom tooth cut through! We can’t see it yet, but we can definitely feel it. And it seems the tooth next to it will cut through in the next couple of days. Finally!

  • First Steps

Today you took 2 steps and fell on the 3rd.
On the back porch with a nice solid surface below your feet, you were standing very well and decided to walk towards mommy. We were sure to catch you since the concrete surface would not be nice to land on, even at your height.

  • Bad Toy

Today you put the yellow play phone in your mouth (like you always do) but you bit down VERY hard and caused your gum/upper mouth to bleed. Mommy saw (I wasn’t home yet). I’m sure it wasn’t a pleasant site to see you bleeding from your mouth.

I don’t think this is what they meant when they coined the phrase: cutting teeth.

  • Ninja Daddy

Couple of nights ago, I was waiting for you to sleep with mommy and needed to get something so I “ninja rolled” over to get it. You saw me and completely woke up, because that was so cool! So I won’t be doing that near bed time anymore.

  • Laying on daddy’s chest, like old times

You layed on my chest today, so cute.
I started to sing and you smiled because you were hearing my voice through my chest.

  • Raming Speed!

Today you were chasing after Gato, who stopped and you didn’t, so you bumped into him. Almost like you were a charging bull. Very funny.

  • Sleeping with (stuffed) kitty

Once, and only once (so far), you wanted to sleep with your stuffed kitty. Totally random that I let you grab a stuffed animal and you picked the kitty and laid down with me. It didn’t last very long though.

  • Tiny Bubbles

Today (or yesterday), during your bath, you started trying to grab the bubbles for the first time while I was giving you a bath. They disappear and you try to grab another bunch.

  • Letter to Daddy (Happy Father’s Day)

    Dear Daddy,

When I was born, I loved cuddling with you and sleeping on your chest all day long. You always had the magic hand to comfort me when I was upset. You bounced me for hours in the middle of the night when I couldn’t go back to sleep. It was funny to see you falling asleep first. We had a lot of good times dancing while you sang some old school R&B because I didn’t want to go to bed. I didn’t like that you don’t let me watch your big TV, you know better than anyone how bad it is to be TV-deprived! I will grow up and make a home theater even bigger than yours!

Now that I am a big girl, I like playing with you (that means climbing on you) and laughing with you every day. I also love splashing you while you give me a bath. I will do this while I can get away with it. It’s great that you get up with me every morning and feed me breakfast; you always have magic Tupperware to entertain me. I will give you kisses every now and then, not too many because I want you to beg for more and hug me a lot. But I will make the kitty face mostly for you!

When I wake up at night, please give me a bottle so I can get back to sleep. I know I shouldn’t need a bottle, but I’m a hungry girl! Sorry I don’t go to bed early enough so you can play WOW, but I have yours and mommy’s genes, so I can’t do anything about that. You said many times with that weird voice “Julia, I am your father”, so yeah, I’m your daughter and can’t go to bed at 7 PM!

We have to get out more, go for walks and to the pool, and when I’m older you can teach me how to play basketball. But you have to promise that you won’t make me play any little league, you know how annoying that is.

I love you and happy first Father’s day,

    Julia
(farting while giving you this letter)

  • 10 months!

You turned 10 months today, wow. You are a big girl, playing by yourself, doesn’t need our help to get a toy or to go anywhere. You crawl, climb, get up and down, grab whatever you want. You stand by yourself, balancing, while holding a toy with both hands. You want to run, even though you don’t know how to walk yet. You take our hands and lead us around, I bet that you could walk by yourself if you let go of our hands.

You can drink from a cup by yourself, you rather drink directly from a cup instead of using the sippy cup (but you always end up wanting to put your hand inside of whatever cup you have). You have been eating 2 or 3 jars of food every meal. I have been trying to change your food to a more chewy consistency but you don’t like that very much. Still waiting for your teeth to come out.

You wave goodbye when you feel like it, you know what to do with your hand but we are not sure you understand when to do it yet. You talk in your own language, making lots of different sounds. We believe you are calling the “ventilador” (ceiling fan) by “do-do”.

You splash water everywhere while Daddy gives you a bath. You are getting harder and harder to put to sleep and every night you decide it’s time to play with your toys after nursing for a little bit in the dark. You have been going to bed around 9 PM, which is much later than what we would like. But you have our genes after all…we are all night owls in this house.
