  • You look even cuter

We finally got your ears pierced today. You look even cuter wearing your white gold ball earrings. We took you to Claire’s at Alderwood Mall (for the 3rd time, since the previous 2 times they sent us away saying you were not old enough or you needed your vaccination history with you) and the lady there marked your ears with purple ink, made us sign a bunch of papers saying we authorized them to pierce your ears and then your daddy held you on his lap while she used the machine to quickly pierce your ears. You cried very loudly and was out of breath for a minute on my arms, but when daddy came back after paying for the piercing you were already fine and smiling again. We walked out and you were just looking around, the piercing episode and earrings already forgotten. The store gave us a cleaning solution that we have to use 3 times a day to wipe your ears clean, and in 6 weeks we can change the earrings to the ones your aunt Helena sent from Brazil.

  • Accident

Your dad was working until very late so I decided to give you a bath by myself. I planned the whole thing for a while thinking about every step and how I would do it alone. Everything was going really well and I was starting to rinse you when you turned your head too far back and a little bit of water went up your nose. You immediately became frantic, I got you into a choking position so any water could come out and you coughed for a little bit until calming down. You were really red from screaming and I wanted to finish the bath right then, but you still had soap in your lower body. I then held you sitting down in your baby tub so the water wouldn’t go anywhere near your head but the minute I poured some water on your body you went nuts and threw your body backwards, hitting the side of the baby tub with your head. Needless to say you started screaming and crying again, I picked you up and ended the bath right then. You stopped crying in my arms and I wrapped you in your towel, you were fine by the time you were dry, but I was shaken for the rest of the night.

  • 3 months old!

You’re 3 months old today, now you’re not a newborn anymore. Everybody tells us that from 3 months on everything gets easier and more fun, let’s see if we can tell the difference in a couple of weeks. Too bad there’s no doctor visit, we wanted to know how much you have grown.

  • Hold that toy – and eat it

Today not only you grabbed a few of your toys using both hands but you also brought them to your mouth. You haven’t really put them in your mouth yet, you just attempted doing it.

  • The magic swing

You don’t usually like taking a nap in the afternoon. Yesterday after you cried for a little bit that you were tired (lots of yawnings and rubbing the eyes), I swaddled you and put you on the swing – and you slept for 2 hours! Today I did the same thing and you have been sleeping for 2h20min and counting.

  • Hold that toy

You have been touching toys, clothes, everything in your reach; now you started grabbing your toys for a few seconds before they fall from your hand. Your right hand is the hand of choice, and the plush rattle with ribbons has been the toy you could hold for longer.

  • Fluke?

You haven’t rolled again so far, so I’m wondering if that first one was just an accident…

  • Singing, radio, Coldplay…

Everything to keep you from crying in the car! Today was the first time that we were alone in the car – mommy driving and you by yourself on the back seat, strapped down in your carseat, which is not your favorite thing even when the grandparents were around. So when we left the house and you were wide awake, I thought we would be in trouble. You started complaining, I turned on the CD player and started the Coldplay CD that I used to listen to when I was pregnant. That didn’t seem to be enough so I started singing along, and you calmed down. You just listened to mommy’s and Coldplay singing the whole drive to Bellevue, just complaining during the quiet time between the songs. On the way back, Coldplay wasn’t working so I found some good radio static noise and you fell asleep after a few minutes.

  • Your first Halloween

You had a busy day! You wore a pink piggy costume and was very cute, I was wearing a witch costume. First we went to mommy’s work, they were having a Halloween party there. Unfortunately the party was over fairly early and we just got to see a couple of people there. We walked around with nona to say hi to everybody and headed to mommy’s doctor’s appointment. You stayed in the car with your nona and was being a bit fussy, but you calmed down on the way to daddy’s work. They were also having trick-or-treating for all the kids and we introduced you to daddy’s co-workers. We didn’t stay long because you were quite tired from all the driving and different places, so we went home after that and you took a good nap. You didn’t see all the cute trick-or-treaters that stopped by, you’ll join them next year!

  • Blowing bubbles

Not sure when exactly it started, but you have been making bubbles and drooling quite a bit for the last week or so. The beginning of a new phase?
