  • bedtime with daddy

so, in prep for mom’s trip, I put you to bed, yesterday and today.

yesterday was a little rough, but tonight was pretty smooth. you were crying as I put on your pjs, and when I closed the blinds, etc. I sat down in the chair and you were crying and pointing at the door, but you stopped, looked at me and laid on my shoulder. I stayed for 2-3 songs and put you in your crib. you didn’t even cry, just laid down and went to sleep. you didn’t even grab a animal to hug.

  • You love “boinho”

We have been baking muffins for the past couple of weeks and you loved all of them (pumpkin with ginger, pumpkin with chocolate chips, pomegranate ginger apple). You kept pointing at the basket with the muffins and said (13) “boinho” today (bolinho/muffin).

  • Ice cream truck

Today we were outside working in the flower beds and we heard this song getting louder: it was the ice cream truck playing “Don’t worry, be happy”. You started to dance! When it finally turned the corner of our street, we went there to get some ice cream: you had some ice cream sandwich with Daddy and then shared Klondike with vovô. We’ll see if you will remember that the music means ice cream the next time around.

  • Vocabulary

You can say (1) “aba” (agua/water), (2) “abi” (abre/open), (3) “gati” (gato/cat), (4) “avre” (arvore/tree), (5) “dadi” (papai/daddy), (6) “mami” (mamae/mommy), (7) “oto” (outro/other), (8) “esse” (esse/this one), (9) “au au” (dog barking when you see/hear a dog), (10) “piu piu” (bird chirping when you see/hear a bird), (11) “nham nham” (when you see food and want to eat it), (12) “dindon” (violao/guitar, when your vovo is playing the guitar) and also to the swing in the playground. You are working on saying “biscoito” (cracker).

  • Falling asleep with Daddy

Tonight, was the first time in a LONG time you fell asleep with me.

Granted, you were super tired from all of the zoo activities.
I walked with you on the San Antonio river walk while people finished their dinner and you actually fell asleep on my shoulder while I held you in my arms.

I was even able to put you into the carseat with very little complaints and drove all the way home.

(Going to bed was quite difficult though).

  • New Schedule For Daddy

Today, I decided to get up early (when you woke up at 7am) and go to work early (arrived at 8:30-ish) so I could come home early (4pm) and play with you (we played and played till 6pm when I fed you dinner).

The goal is to disassociate me with going to bed because you used to cry when I got home around your dinner time because you anticipated I would be giving you a bath right before putting you to bed (though, mom is the one who really puts you to bed. since you just cry for me).

  • Where’s your feet daddy?

Today, I decided to wear pants *gasp* and shoes *gasp* for the first time…probably since May.
When I got home, you pointed at my shoes and touched them, wondering where my feet/toes were.

  • CIO Night 4

Similar to last night, you woke up around 11:50pm, make a little bit of noise for a couple minutes and slept until you made tiny noises at 6:30 and we came into your room.

Waking up that early caused you to need a nap pretty early.

  • Not an adventurous eater

We keep trying to feed you new things but you usually refuse everything we offer. So different from a couple of months ago when you pointed to our food and wanted to try everything. Your dad made yummy strawberry pancakes for breakfast and we were trying to get you to try them – you wouldn’t open your mouth, turned your head around from side to side, cried, and FINALLY you ate a piece. And immediately picked up the other piece that we put on the table in front of you and put it in your mouth. I can’t imagine when we have to give you something that is not nearly as good as pancakes…

  • Piu piu piu

Every time we go to the yard (and you want to go there ALL THE TIME), I point out the trees, the grass, the sky, the plants, the flowers, and of course, the eventual birds flying around. When that happens, I say “passarinho” (bird) and then make the sound a bird makes: “piu piu piu”. Now every time you see a bird, you immediately say “piu piu piu”.
